Multi-demodulation phase-shifting and intensity pattern projection profilometry
What's it about? Español
Phase-shifting is a powerful method for 3D imaging by fringe projection. However, the numerous fringe pattern requirement hinders the feasibility for fast 3D imaging. A main feature of the phase-shifting approach is the use of fringe patterns, where each pattern encodes a single-phase function. In this paper, the use of intensity patterns, which encode multiple phase functions, is proposed. With this approach, the intensity pattern projection profilometry is developed.
Why is it important?
Two contributions are reported in this paper:
- a multi-demodulation phase-shifting algorithm, and
- the intensity pattern projection profilometry.
Perspectives
The results exhibit that a similar accuracy than conventional fringe projection is achieved while using a reduced number of patterns. According to the obtained results, the proposed approach is a promising alternative to increase the efficiency of optical 3D imaging systems based on phase-shifting.
